Did you miss Expo 1906 Milan? Don't miss Expo 2015 Milan!
More than 100 years later, Milan will open again the doors to the world. You probably missed Expo Milan 1906, but can still have a short view of what happened then, and discover with this selection of pictures how surprisingly fast architecture and design have changed in the last century.
The World Expo 1906 in Milan, known as the Great Expo of Work, was born with the aim to make a great international exhibition regarding trasportation to inaugurate the recent railway Paris–Milan, on the occasion of the completed Alpine Tunnel of Sempione. The Expo called "Nautical and Overland Trasportation" became a great event and hosted great representatives of agriculture, sciences and social environment, till to become the First Italian Universal Exposition.
The next Universal Exhibition that Milan will host from May 1 to October 31, 2015, is called "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" where participating countries will show the best of their technology that offers a concrete answer to a vital need: being able to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium.
In fact on both cases the tickets are the first approach to the topic of the exhibition, and are clearly rappresented on the Ticket design itself; the Sempione opening as a sign of transport innovation on 1906, while, Foody, the mascot of Expo 2015, expressed as a single face with diversity of food.
The plans for constructions and visiting the Exhibition are a main tool to guide the visitors; access from the public transport, pavilions, events and routes that connect the spaces within the exhibition site are explained in order to guarantee a pleasant journey according to the visitors' interests.
In addition to the detailed floor plans the exhibition locations have been represented on both cases with a three-dimensional design, a demonstration of innovation with manufacturing techniques definitely different.
The entrance is a symbol of hospitality and so receives the visitor wrapped with a futuristic and innovative architecture. The first impression is always the one that remains...
