Nuova Galleria Sabauda

New Sabauda Gallery by Studio Albini Associati, Turin

The architectural studio Albini Associates returns the Savoy Gallery in Turin to its ancient splendor. The new installation for the collection finds an appropriate means of expression within the Nuova Manica of the Palazzo Reale.
The intervention recovers the basics of the work of Emilio Stramucci (the original architect of the Palazzo Reale) and maintains some of the existing formal characteristics of the exhibition space, such as the high visual transparency between the rooms and the fluidity of the path for the visitors. It also minimizes the fragmentation of the logical path inside the museum and rationalizes the exhibition spaces. The exhibition is conceived to be flexible, double skinned: there are two levels of visibility, the exhibits and the existing architecture.
